Number Potentially Involved: 20,974

Dates of Manufacture: July 1997 - January 1998

Defect: The dash panel pad can shift, interfering with the throttle cable control. When this occurs, the throttle will not return to idle, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.

Remedy: Dealers will remove a portion of the dash panel pad to prevent contact with the throttle cable control. Owner Notification: Owner notification is expected to begin during April 1998. Owners who do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact Mitsubishi at 1-800-222-0037.
