Defect/Problem: ABS SYSTEM FAILED DURING EMERGENCY MANUVERS, TURNED ONTO WRONG SIDE OF ROAD TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. FOUND MYSELF ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ISLAND. I NOTICED A SHARP TURN AND SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES AND TRIED TO TURN INTO THE TURN. THE CAR REMAINED GOING IN A STRAIGHT LINE WITH TIRES TURNED AND BRAKED APPLIED. I THEN PROCEEDED TO HIT THE CURB STRAIGHT ON AND THEN THE FRONT OF MY CAR WAS ON THE GRASS. THE CAR SUSTAINED MAJOR DAMAGE TO THE UPPER AND LOWER CONTROL ARMS RIM AND TIRE. ON LOOKER SAW FRONT TIRES LOCKED UP AND THE REAR TIRES ROTATING FREELY. LUCKILY THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN WITH A PERSON INFRONT OF ME. I HAVE PICTURES OF THE SKID MARKS NOTING THE ABS FAILURE.*AK

AFTER COLLISION THE WHEEL WAS AT AN ANGLE AND JOINT AT THE RIGHT UPPER CONTROL ARM WAS LOOSE AT THE HUB. ALSO, THE RIGHT REAR WHEEL RIM WAS BROKEN AND THE REAR TIRE HAD BECOME FLAT. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO TIRE TO INDICATE ANY KIND OF BLOW OUT. PARTS THAT REQUIRED REPLACEMENT INCLUDED RIGHT REAR HUB, RIGHT REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY, RIGHT REAR SHOCK, RIGHT REAR WHEEL AND TIRE, RIGHT REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM AND RIGHT LOWER TRAILING ARM. Defect/Problem: FRONT TIRES SUDDENLY LOSE INFLATION. FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS LESS THAN A DAY AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW. THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE BLEWOUT WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT FREEWAY SPEED, CAUSING CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE. THE SECOND TIME WAS FIVE MONTHS LATER WHEN THE LEFT FRONT TIRE "FELL OFF THE RIM" WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET. THE THIRD TIME WAS LAST NIGHT, 11 MONTHS LATER, WHEN THAT SAME TIRE AGAIN FELL OFF THE RIM. PROPER INFLATION WAS MAINTAINED AT ALL TIMES. IN FACT, INFLATION OF ALL TIRES HAD BEEN CHECKED ONLY FOUR DAYS (SIX MILES) EARLIER. DESPITE THERE BEING COMPLAINTS OF A SIMILAR NATURE IN YOUR DATABASE, MITSUBISHI AND GOODYEAR BOTH DENY EVER HEARING OF SUCH PROBLEMS, THOUGH MITSUBISHI DID SETTLE A DAMAGE CLAIM AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT AND HAS PROVIDED FREE ROAD SERVICE AFTER THE OTHER TWO. THE IN-TOWN FLATS ARE ANNOYING. MY BIGGEST FEAR IS THAT THIS MAY HAPPEN AGAIN SOMEDAY WHEN I AM TRAVELING AT FREEWAY SPEED. Defect/Problem: THE CHROME WHEEL RIMS ON MY CAR ARE CORRODING ON THE INSIDE. THE TIRES LEAK AIR BECAUSE THE RIMS DO NOT SEAL PROPERLY. THIS CAUSES THE TIRE TO BECOME FLAT. THE LAST INCIDENT CAUSED ME TO BE STRANDED, AT NIGHT. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO A TIRE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS A DEFINATE DEFECT IN THE WHEELS AND THE MANUFACTURER SHOUILD REPLACE ALL FOUR WHEELS,. DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE WHEELS THIS WILL EVENTUALLY HAPPEN TO THE WHEEL RIMS, AGAIN.

ACCORDING TO THE THE THREADING ON THE BULTS THAT HOLD THE RIM ON WERE STRIPPED AND THE DAMAGE WOULD RUN ME ABOUT 200 PER TIRE. ONE TOP OF THE NEW BULTS I NEEDED NEW RIMS. THEY SAID MY RIMS WERE TO BENT UP. I HAVE HAD MY CAR FOR 3 YEARS AND HAVE HAD MY RIMS BANGED BACK INTO SHAPE SEVERAL TIMES ALREADY. THE SHOP SAYS THEY ARE VERY WEAK RIMS AND I NEED NEW ONES, BUT THAT COSTS OVER A THOUSAND. THERE WAS ANOTHER INCIDENT WITH MY RIMS AS WELL.
